threesixty steps into the Dragons Den!
Last week, we were delighted to have the opportunity to be involved in a local schools young apprentice style business event. Year 6 students had formed their own companies and had to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and then coped with all the questions fired back at them.
The panel of four judges consisted of Keely Bury, a Business Manager from Park Inn Hotels, Steven Greig, a Business Director from Specialist Computer Centre, Allison Cookson the Head Teacher of the school and ourselves.
We were really impressed by the standard of the presentations and the ideas which included, car washing, classroom cleaning, fruity cocktail stalls and jewellery making. We decided to help all of the groups fulfil their business ideas by donating start up funds for their ideas.
Emma Wileman, the Teacher who organised the event, said “I would like to thank everyone for taking part in this initiative and congratulate them on all of their hard work. The event gave the children a lot of confidence and the opportunity to one day think about running their own business."
All in all it was a great event that the children were really enthusiastic about - as an added bonus, Rob Ellis and Rachel "Text on Legs" from Galaxy 102fm popped in after their breakfast show to talk to the students about what it takes to get on in Radio!
