Manufacturing recovery gathers pace (June 2010)
The second quarter EEF/BDO 'Manufacturing Outlook' report shows a positive outlook for the UK Manufacturing sector, with news that the sector is strengthening as weaker sterling and increased global demand is beginning to feed through.
The report shows that the broad based recovery which began at the end of 2009 has gathered pace, and that output and order levels are at their highest levels for a number of years.
There are also signs this increased confidence is beginning to translate into recruitment, although concerns over business and tax reforms in the upcoming emergency budget are combining to keep growth plans on hold for the present.
This highlights the need for an emergency budget that combines a reduction in spending with structured business and tax reforms that continue to support business growth and helps to unlock this sector's potential.
