Finance Project Manager - Publishing
Client
A successful privately owned market leading publisher with a Head Office located the Lake District. Following a period of rapid expansion and with plans to move into a new overseas market the business was looking to recruit a number of key roles to bolster the Head Office team.
Objective
Despite the challenges of recruiting in a relatively remote area in terms of the number of professionals living in the vicinity, the Managing Director in no way wanted to compromise on the calibre of the person they appointed. The brief was for a high achiever, both in terms of their experience to date and their academics. In addition, there was a major emphasis on cultural fit so the appointment would be a long term success.
Method
The role required a mix of different methods to be employed. The scarcity of businesses in the region was a major issue in terms of sourcing local talent so it seemed more likely that we would have to attract either a relocator into the area (either someone who had roots in the area but had moved away or someone who wanted to live and work in an area like the Lake District). We combined a mix of headhunting, direct marketing to suitable candidates and national advertising in specifically selected media to attract relocators.
Result
The work generated considerable interest in the role, however, one candidate in particular stood out as being an excellent match. The client met the shortlisted candidate and shared the same view, following a rigorous second interview process the role was offered and accepted.
